Change and Grow

Our Summer term topic is ‘Change and Grow’ when we enjoy looking at the life-cycles of chickens, butterflies and frogs. We also spend a lot of time looking at how plants grow. Our school meadow and woodlands are ideal for exploring, finding wild flowers and plants, and naming and drawing them. We’ve learnt the parts of a plant and what it needs for growing. Year 2s set up an experiment of 4 bulbs – 1. with no soil, 2. with no water, 3. with no light and 4.  had everything! We’ve cut bulbs in half and investigated the insides, done some observational drawings of them and planted our own to measure each week. They have shot up over half-term!

We have really enjoyed our P.E. time this year especially gymnastics.

We’ve gained lots of confidence climbing the heights of the ‘prison bars’ and practising our jumps from the table benches.

The children of Willow and Cherry Tree classes have put their all into their learning over this last term especially and we’re very proud of them. We look forward to Sports Day on Monday 29th June from 9.30 – 12.00 and the Move-up Days on Thursday and Friday, 2nd and 3rd of July.
