Newsletter 15th March 2013

• Sports Events: Unfortunately, due to other commitments the Priory School had to postpone the football tournament that was planned for Monday. However, our year 3/4 team played Dover Park at home in the quarter finals yesterday and won 3-2.That means that they are through to the semi-finals which will have to be played next week. Man of the Match was Jimmy Mumford who supported all of the team to do their best. Mark Hill organised a fantastic cluster cross country event this week. Wootton, Queensgate, Gurnard and Cowes all joined us. We came a fantastic joint second with Queensgate winning the event overall. A special mention has to go to Millie Williams who was the first girl to cross the finishing line and came 6th overall. Thank you to all the children and staff involved who made both events so enjoyable. Next week we have a high 5 netball tournament and the Island final of the basketball to look forward to.
• Sainsbury’s Active Kids: Another thanks to Mr Hill who has won us a prize from Active Kids by writing a blog about our year 3/4 Tag Rugby Tournament. We have won 4 basketballs signed by the Para Olympic Basketball team and a visit from a sports person linked to the scheme – fingers crossed it will be David Beckham!
• Year 5 and 6 Residential Trips – Please return any paperwork as soon as possible to the office. If you have any queries about East Dene in particular please contact Miss Hussey.
• Red Nose Madness: Thank you for your participation with our Bake Off and Mufti Day. The winners of the bake off are Willow Peace in third place, Adam Burt was second and Very Well Done to Jordan Dexter who came first. Well done also to Louis Thompson who came to school dressed as a fairy. We also had children with clothes on back to front and others attempting a sponsored silence! We will let you know how much money we raised next week. Thanks also to staff who to celebrate 25 years of Comic relief came to school dressed in 1980’s clothes!
• Jumble Sale – We are holding a jumble sale at 2.30 in the hall on Friday 22nd of March – please come and have a rummage! Please also bring any donations you have to the office next week.
• A Big Northwood Welcome – to Alfie Cartmell and his family. Alfie has joined us in Apple Tree.
• Supporters of Northwood – Now have a Facebook page – “Supporters of Northwood”. Following the success of the Child Craft Day, S.O.N. will be holding another on March 28th. Spaces are limited to 90 children so please sign up and pay £1 to the office.
