Newsletter 8th March 2013

 Sports Events: Next week we are hosting 2 events in school. On Monday we are having a year 4 and 5 football tournament against the Priory School starting at 2.30. On Wednesday afternoon we are hosting a Cowes cluster cross-country tournament for years 5 and 6. Please come and cheer them on from 1.30. Thank you to Mrs Mumford and Mr Hill for organising these events.
 Year 6 Trips: A letter went home yesterday to those children who have chosen to do the week of Island based activities. The children do not have to do all 5 days, please return the slip with choices as soon as possible so that we can confirm numbers with the providers. If they do not want to do a trip on a certain day they need to be in school as usual, their year 5 friends will still be here! Payments for all year 6 trips are due by 30th April.
 East Dene – Just a reminder that we have a meeting on Tuesday 12th March in the Mobiles at 5.30pm. If you are unable to attend we will send the information home on the Wednesday. Children are welcome to come too but we will be spending Thursday afternoon together doing some preliminary team-building exercises and discussing any worries they might have!
 Jumble Sale: Please keep sorting out any unwanted clothing, bric-a-brac, books and toys for our jumble sale on Friday 22nd March. Doors will open from 2pm for you to come and have a rummage!
 Red Nose Alert: Brambles children will be having a joke wall next Friday before school and at break time. Please come and post a ‘cheesy’ joke on the wall for 20p. The best joke will win a free tea at Brambles. Next Friday is Mufti day for the children, they can wear normal clothes for a small donation to the charity. Several older children are choosing to do something ‘funny for money’ and getting sponsors but they have been told that they must get your permission and we are not allowing anything too way out as we still need to try and teach them! Please don’t forget the ‘Bake Off’ that the girls have organised.
 Northwood Playgroup Spring Bonanza: In order to raise much needed funds for the refurbishment of the outside play area the playgroup are planning a Spring Bonanza. It will be on Thursday 21st March from 3pm. Please look out for posters and more details.
 Parking – 2 cars have been reported to the office this week for parking in places that you shouldn’t park despite a reminder in last week’s newsletter! The number plates are SM56SSK and HN05 BXH. Please pass this message on to any friends or family members who collect your children. Another reminder too that the car park is NOT for dropping your children off in! It is very busy in the morning with staff arriving for work and having to back out of the car park to allow parents to leave is very dangerous, as I’m sure most of you will appreciate.
 Lost Hoodie: Leo in Lime has lost a black zip-up hoodie. Last seen in the hall after school on Wednesday. It is not named but has green Kawasaki logos. Could you please keep an eye out for it.
 Key Stage 1 SATS: The Key Stage 1 team will be holding an information evening for Year 2 parents on Tuesday 19th March at 6pm. More information will follow.
