Reorganisation.
A plea to parents.
Candidates visiting school.

Reorganisation update

On Monday evening we held an information evening for parents of children who will be in Year 5 next year. I invited a guest speaker from a primary school on the mainland to attend and he was able to share with the parents details about how his school operates. From the evaluation sheets that have already been returned, parents found the evening very useful. We have also placed a suggestion box in KS2 so that the children in year 4 can begin to offer their ideas about what they would like to see in year 5. We are all very aware that we will want to provide appropriate levels of provision, responsibility and challenge to the children as they mature.

Another plea for parents to park responsibly!! I have had a number of complaints about cars parked on double yellow lines and some people have also blocked the drives of houses nearby, which must be so annoying for the local residents.

It has also come to my attention that children are running ahead of their parents outside school and have had some very near misses with cars. I cannot emphasise enough that children under the age of 7 DO NOT have sufficient road sense to keep safe near a road. Call me old fashioned but whatever happened to children holding an adults hand? If they won’t stay near you, then they need to wear a wrist strap for a while until they learn to. I would hate to see anyone from our school involved in a serious accident.

We have had a number of prospective candidates for the headship visiting school this week.

Mrs. Crutcher says thank you to all the people who have sent in their old postage stamps so far. Do keep them coming please. She will empty the box weekly.

We raised £394.00 for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal. -- Thank you to everyone who donated and made and bought cakes.
