Thank you for clearing the snow.
Welcome to Nicole Gaskin and Lucy Green. (Covering for Mrs Strain)
Governors surgery.
Thank you for Xmas party.

We are finally back now I hope and happy new year to you all.  What fun for everyone in this unexpected amount of snow!  A big thank you to the Sunday snow clearing brigade!  Special thanks to Dave Bryant, Mr. Pullen (junior) and (senior), Kayleigh and Rachel Pullen, Mr. Tilling, Mr. and Mrs. Miller, Roger and Jill Mazillius, Vicky Essery and Rob Scott, Malcolm and Kevin Fry, Mr. Holden, and Robin and Paula Carter who helped to clean the paths so that we could make a prompt return to school!.

Welcome to Nicole Gaskin and Lucy Green who are the super supply teachers covering Beech team while Mrs. Strain is away with her broken arm.  They have made such a good start and we are delighted to have them.

Wendy Bluestone and Sara Thompson will be running their Governors Surgery on Monday 18th January from 3.00.pm. in the library.

A big thank you to all the Supporters of Northwood who worked really hard to make the Christmas party so successful.

The KS2 Church Carol Service was very enjoyable at the end of last term and the readings and beautiful singing were still very strong even though there were only two classes performing this year.

Would anyone be able to pick up a 6 year old girl living in Wyatts Lane and drop her off at school on a regular basis?(a payment would be made and it would be mornings only).  Please contact the school office.

Clubs will start on Tuesday 26th  January.  Lists will go up next week.

Nicky Metcalfe from Carisbrooke Sports Partnership will be running a 6 week Gym Club for Y1 children  on Tuesdays after school until 4p.m.  There are only 20 places available so please sign up on the list in the School Office.  There is no charge for this course.

Billy and Livi Jubb have asked if we can hold a mufti day to raise money in aid of the Haiti Earthquake Appeal.  I’m sure that many of you will feel you want to help in some way, so on Friday 22nd January we are asking that everyone comes to school in brightly coloured clothes in exchange for a £1 donation.  We will also hold a Mammoth Cake Sale after school on that day and are asking everyone to bake a cake in aid of the appeal...thank you. ?

A message from Mr. Bryant- Do you like singing? Would you like to be part of a community choir of children and parents at Northwood School? We are running a choir on Tuesdays between 3.15 and 4.00pm.  Please sign up next week on the Community Choir list outside Mr. Bryant’s Willow Tree classroom.  First rehearsal is Tuesday 26th Jan.

I have spoken to all the children today about staying with their parents as they leave school at the end of the day and checking to see if their parents are with them BEFORE they leave the building.  I shall be monitoring this myself.

Please could parents also ensure that they don’t block the school gate area at the end of the day.  If you want to stop for a chat could you please move on to the field so that we can maintain the flow!

The Year 5 Information Evening which is taking place in the Sail Loft at the Bargeman’s Rest in Newport on Monday 25th January will start at 6.00 and finish at 8.00pm.  There are plenty of car parks nearby so parking won’t be an issue.

We have a number of children with MISSING ITEMS of clothing etc. already this term:

Macy Rose in Cherry Tree has lost her book bag with lots of key rings on it.

Billy Backshall has lost his trousers!

James Hunt has lost a white T shirt size 5-6 years .

(Both items of clothing are named).

Could we all turn detective and have a good hunt for these items please.

Their will be a Friends of Northwood School meeting on Wednesday 20th January in the library.
