Many of you will have realised that Mrs Miles hasn’t been in school this week. Unfortunately her mother is seriously ill in hospital in Cambridgeshire and of course Mrs Miles needs to be with her. School will continue as usual and we hope it won’t be too long before she is able to join us again.

All the children enjoyed spending a lovely afternoon on Thursday in the class that they will be moving to in September. The staff spend a lot of time deciding which class is best suited to your child.

Well done and a very big thank you to everyone who helped make the Summer Fair such a big success last Saturday. A profit of £1500 was made and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves.

The PTAs next event is the End of Term Summer BBQ on Friday 10th July, look out for your invitation coming home with your child shortly.

A desperate plea from Mrs Hayward. Did you purchase a dvd copy of Madagascar2 or Igor, at the Summer Fair? Mrs Hayward had rented them from Blockbuster for the penfriend visit but they got mixed up with the Summer Fair stuff and were sold! She would really appreciate their return and is happy to reimburse you with their sale price!

The very last day for returning your class photograph orders is Monday 6th July.

Check the menu on the back of this newsletter for details of the special Indoor BBQ meal on Monday.

This year Y3/Y4 will be performing Sheherazade – Tales of the Arabian Nights, on Wednesday 15th July at Medina Theatre. Tickets will be on sale, priced at £4 each, from the school office from the end of school on Monday 6th July. There is no limit on ticket sales.

Year 3 visitors enjoyed a delicious lunch this week. Next Tuesday it will Apple Tree children’s turn to invite someone to have a school dinner with them.

Well done to Sophie Grandcourt who passed her Grade 1 violin exam this week. On Friday 10th July the children who are learning to play the violin will be holding a concert in school at 11am to which you are all invited.

Congratulations also to our swimming team who came third in the IOW Primary School Swimming Gala on Monday and the Y4 children who took part in the Kwik Cricket Festival on Thursday.

A reminder that Friday 10th July is Green Britain day. Please ensure you have returned your child’s permission slip if they want to have their toes painted. Additional copies are available from the office.

Mrs Strand had a very sad e-mail from the IOW Zoo recently. A devastating cyclone has struck in India endangering the local population of tigers and they are very concerned that the tigers that are left are protected and managed to avoid further disaster. The IOW Zoo runs a project partnership in the area and would like schools that have benefited from educational visits to the Zoo to support a fund raising endeavour to help this project. Mrs Strand has agreed to help and would like to fund raise in two ways:

  • A loose change TIGER collection point in Apple Tree Class

  • A selling cookies day on Friday 10th July at morning break – please send your child in with 20p to buy one.

The Walmsley family are holding their annual Cake and Coffee Day in aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice on Saturday 4th July at 163 Park Road, Cowes. There will be live music and a visit once again from the Star Wars characters.. Contact Katie Walmsley on 07920104407 for further details.

Head lice is back! Did they ever go away? Please check your child’s hair thoroughly this weekend and treat appropriately.

Toby Margham has lost a shower mac. Please can you check that you haven’t taken it home by mistake.

Foundation Stage would be very grateful for outgrown boys pants and socks that can be used for ‘spares’.

Pick up a Matalan leaflet from the School Foyer for a 10% discount on school uniform.

The Northwood community are having a tidy up day on Saturday 4th July prior to the Calor Gas Village of the Year competition which is being judged next week. Please meet at the play park in Venner Avenue for a 10am start if you are able to help.
