Welcome to Beech Team with Ms Kay, Mrs Andrew, Mrs Bridle, Mrs Haynes, Mandy Dalal and Mandy Wardle.
At the moment we are busy finding about the Ancient Egyptians. We have done loads of individual research into topics which interest us and have discovered so many exciting things. Did you know that the Ancient Egyptians lived over 5,000 years ago? Or that the pyramids they built are designed to look like the sun's rays? That the great pyramid at Giza is the largest stone building the world has ever seen? We are all excited about our upcoming assembly where we will share the myth of Isis and Osiris.
WE are expecting a visit from the Jing Kun Chinese opera company very soon where we will learn all about traditional Chinese movements and dance as well as story telling.
Soon the year three students will be travelling to London to visit the Tutankhamun Exhibition which should be really exciting. On the same day the year fours are off to Southern Road Primary School to visit their pen friends. Friendships are already being made and year four students are really keen to meet their penfriends in real life - AND visit the West Ham Football stadium.
Our art leesons have been spent investigating, designing and making papier mache masks - both African and Buddhist. As a result the classroom is very colourful!
In maths we are continuing with the new Making Maths Make Sense scheme which is still great fun and has given us lots of confidence. We have been investigating coins through make believe shops, 2 and 3d shapes, times tables and lots of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing with our famous white cups!
During science lessons we have been very busy finding out about solids, liquids and gases. We now know all about melting, freezing, evaporating, heating and cooling.
