‘Turning It Up’ in Year 3!

Hi everyone,

Our first term in Elm Tree flew past us and before we knew it, our Christmas Show with Year 4 was upon us. We hope that you enjoyed the performances as much as we did putting them on. Your children were stars!

This Spring term has begun with a new topic called Turn It Up! We are looking at sound and light, how they are made, how they travel, and how we can turn them into performances. Year 3 children have begun by studying sound waves, light waves and will soon move on to studying ears and eyes.

Your children are still working hard at their maths, reading and writing. We’re adding and subtracting 2 digit and 3 digit numbers, enjoying our regular ERIC time [everyone reading in class], including guided reading with me, listening to David Walliams brilliant stories with our headphones, and finding facts about our favourite subject, In writing, we’re composing letters with some advice for those who are scared of the dark!

Please continue to support your child’s reading at home. It is expected that each child would usually change their school book at least once a week. Spelling Bees are returned to school on a Wednesday please. Finally, their maths homework can be found in their pink folder in their reading bag.

Here’s a heart-warming recording of Elm Tree singing in class on a cold January afternoon!

Thank you

Mr Bryant 🙂
