Procedures for school closure in adverse weather

17th January 2013
Dear Parents / Carers,
I am sure you are aware that the weather forecast for tomorrow is for heavy snow on th Island and I am writing to let you know the procedures that the school will follow if we need to close.
Should we wake up to snow and the school is unable to open, we will inform the Isle of Wight Council by 7.45am. Details of closures will be broadcast by Isle of Wight Radio and the councils website, www.iwight.com, will also have an up to date school closure list. You will also receive a text message from school.
If the snow falls during the day after the start of school and the decision has to be made to close to ensure the safety of children and staff getting home, you will be contacted by text message. If you know that we will be unable to contact you in this way tomorrow, please give the school office an alternative contact number that can be used. If for any reason you are not receiving our text messages, please contact the office.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Airey

My husband and I love this school and really appreciate the fact the teachers and support staff will listen to any concerns we have.
