Journeys

Hi everyone!

In KS1 we have had an amazing time looking at and learning about Journeys. We began by looking at simple maps and plans of our classrooms and bedrooms, maps of Northwood and the Isle of Wight. We then attemped drawing our own maps showing our journey to school including local landmarks, like the scout hut, WI hall and the post office.

In literacy, we have enjoyed listening to and writing  Journey stories including ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’, ‘The Runaway Train’, ‘The Town Mouse and Country Mouse’ and ‘Little Rabbit Foo Foo!’ We have also had a lot of fun learning and singing a wide range of Journey related songs, a particular favourite being “Last Night as I Lay Sleeping”, which includes the beautiful Isle of Wight in its lyrics. Do ask your child for a rendition!

We have been investigating simple forces in Science, and have begun planning a design for our own vehicles in D.T. which we will look forward to testing after half term.

Next half-term we are expanding our knowledge and understanding of the World around us. In Cherry Tree we will be learning about France, Nepal in Willow and Argentina in Maple, we all very excited about the discoveries we are going to make. If you have anything that you feel would be of interest please do bring it in.

Year 2 parents may wish to note that Mr Bryant and Miss Pike will be holding a SATS information evening on Wednesday February 29th between 6-7 pm.

Please watch this space for further information and photos.
